StrideAI — Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the StrideAI — Smart Running Coach iOS app ("the App", "we", "us"). It is effective as of June 24, 2026. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

StrideAI is privacy-focused by design: the App does not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or phone number. Your running and health data stays on your device except where it is sent, with your consent, to generate AI coaching as described in Section 3.

1. Information We Collect

  1. Apple Health (HealthKit) data — With your permission, the App reads running-related data from Apple Health, which may include: running workouts and routes (GPS), distance, duration, pace, heart rate, cadence, stride length, ground contact time, vertical oscillation, VO2max, running power, workout effort, heart-rate recovery, sleep, and body metrics. This data is read only; the App does not write data back to Apple Health.
  2. Content you provide — Your training goal, weekly availability, and any natural-language messages you send to the AI coach.
  3. Technical and diagnostic data — When Firebase services are enabled, the App uses Firebase App Check to verify that requests come from a genuine, untampered instance of the App, and Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) may receive device and advertising identifiers to serve ads on the free tier.

The App does not collect a name, nickname, profile image, email address, or phone number, and it does not create a user account.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

  1. We do not sell your personal or health data, and we do not share it with data brokers.
  2. We do not use Apple Health (HealthKit) data for advertising or marketing.
  3. We, the developer, cannot access data that is stored only on your device or in your private iCloud account.

3. How We Use Your Information

  1. To generate and adapt a personalized weekly training plan and coaching advice based on your running history, recovery, and goals.
  2. To produce AI coaching responses, relevant summaries of your running data, recovery metrics, recent coaching history, and your messages are sent to Google's Gemini model through Firebase AI Logic. This processing happens only when you request coaching or a plan. The data is used to generate your response and is not used to train Google's AI models.
  3. To keep the App secure and correctly configured (Firebase App Check and Firebase Remote Config).
  4. To display advertisements to users on the free tier (Google AdMob). Ads are not based on your Apple Health data.

4. How Your Data Is Stored

  1. On your device — By default, your runner profile, training plan, and coaching history are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData.
  2. iCloud sync (optional) — If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, this data is synchronized across your own devices through Apple iCloud (CloudKit) under your Apple ID. It remains within your private iCloud account; we cannot read it.

5. Health and Fitness Data

The App's use of Apple HealthKit data complies with Apple's requirements. Health data is used solely to provide the App's coaching and training features. It is never used for advertising or other use-based data mining, is never sold, and is never shared with third parties except as needed to generate your AI coaching (Section 3). You can revoke the App's access to Health data at any time in the iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.

6. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  1. Apple — HealthKit, iCloud, and StoreKit (subscriptions and payments). See Apple's Privacy Policy.
  2. Google Firebase — Firebase AI Logic (Gemini), App Check, and Remote Config. See the Firebase Privacy and Security information and Google's Privacy Policy.
  3. Google AdMob — advertising on the free tier. See Google's advertising policies.

7. Subscriptions and Payments

StrideAI offers an auto-renewable monthly subscription for unlimited AI coaching. All purchases, billing, and renewals are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple App Store account settings.

8. Data Retention

  1. Coaching history is retained for approximately 12 months and older entries are automatically removed.
  2. You can delete all on-device data at any time by deleting the App. If you use iCloud sync, you may also remove the App's data from your iCloud account in the iOS Settings.

9. Your Choices

  1. Grant or revoke Apple Health access in iOS Settings.
  2. Enable or disable iCloud sync in the App's Settings.
  3. Limit ad tracking through the iOS "Allow Apps to Request to Track" and personalized-ad settings.
  4. Cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account.

10. Children's Privacy

StrideAI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date.
